Get up to $400 in government rebates when you make energy-saving improvements to your house. (Note that this program is only available to homeowners with a net single income of less than $25,000, or a net family income of less than $40,000.)

Four groups currently offer the energy efficient housing evaluation program in Nova Scotia.

    1-877-722-2842
  2. Clean Nova Scotia (Mainland Nova Scotia):
    1-800-665-5377

  4. ACAP Cape Breton (Cape Breton Regional Municipality): 902-567-1628

The cost for the energy evaluation is $450, but Conserve Nova Scotia pays two-thirdsof that cost up front. Total cost to you is $150 plus HST. If you are a low-to-modest income Nova Scotian, the provincial government will rebate the $150 plus HST cost of the energy evaluation to you.

    Hi Jessica –

Your building should be eligible for funding through a federal government program called the ecoENERGY Retrofit Incentive for Buildings (a program for multi-unit apartment buildings).

The government website with information on the program says that you can get up $50,000 in grants, but it depends on what improvements are made to the building (which can include installing new windows).

    Here’s my advice:

    (1) Call 1-877-360-5500 to speak with someone, and get the application forms.

    (2) Check out the Retrofit for Buildings Incentive website for information on the program.

    Hope this helps.

We replaced all of the windows in our home last year and did not know about the energy rebate. Would we stll be eligible or has that “boat sailed” ? The old windows were original to the home about 30 years old. I still have the receipt for the new windows.
    Thanks
    Christa
