BC Hydro Power Smart for Low-Income Households – Energy Conservation Assistance Program

If you’re a low-income household, the BC Hydro Low Income Program has some valuable assistance for you.

Who is Eligible:

Low Income Homeowners and renters that are a BC Hydro or City of New Westminster account holder

Description:

The Program provides qualified low-income residential account holders with free personalized home energy evaluation, installation of energy saving products (e.g. ENERGY STAR® certified high-efficiency gas furnace) by a qualified contractor and personalized energy efficiency advice.

Steps to Get this Rebate:

1. Complete an application online, or complete and print the application form.
2. Along with your application form, please submit a copy of one of the following dated within the last year:
-A Notice of Assessment for each member of your household over the age of 18. Please ensure that all information is blacked out except for your name, effective date, and line 150
-Verification of income or disability assistance, e.g. your monthly report (cheque stub), or a printed copy of your Confirmation of Assistance if you’re registered for My Self Serve.
-A Shelter Aid for Elderly Renters (SAFER) cheque stub, acknowledgement letter or benefit change letter from BC Housing.
-A Rental Assistance Program acknowledgment letter or benefit change letter from BC Housing.
-National Child Benefit Supplement notice from Canada Revenue Agency.
3. If you rent your home you’ll need to submit a completed landlord consent form [PDF, 727 KB] along with your application.
4. Mail your completed and signed application package to:
