Office of Energy Research and Development Program (OERD)
Natural Resources Canada’s Office of Energy Research and Development (OERD) is in charge of managing and developing energy research and development across the federal government. Since 1974, OERD has ensured that federal energy research and development priorities are coordinated across departments and agencies through initiatives such as the Program of Energy Research and Development (PERD) and, more recently, a component of the Energy Innovation Program (EIP).
The Federal Internal Energy R&D suite of programmes promotes and supports energy research and development by funding related to research and development activities in federal departments and agencies. OERD capitalizes on participant synergies to guarantee that resources are properly deployed, research activities are coordinated, and decision-making in federal energy R&D funding is improved.

Clean Energy Improvement Program
The Clean Energy Improvement Program can help your municipality develop Property Assessed Clean Energy (PACE) financing solutions for residential and commercial property owners.
The programme gives residential and commercial property owners access to low-cost, long-term financing that can cover up to 100% of their project costs with no money down. One of the most significant obstacles that property owners encounter when opting to engage in energy efficiency and renewable energy renovations is obtaining reasonable financing. Individuals may lack the funds upfront or are concerned about losing money if they sell the home before recouping their investment. Property owners will find it easier to overcome these barriers through the Clean Energy Improvement Program (CEIP), an Alberta-made approach to Property Assessed Clean Energy (PACE).
Eligible Applicants
Property owners will be able to instantly benefit from energy efficiency upgrades or renewable energy installations while paying for them over time through an assessment of their property tax bill (similar to a local improvement charge). This scheme is known as PACE (Property Assessed Clean Energy) funding in various areas.
