BC Youth: It’s Time to Lead the Change with Youth Action Grants

Are you a BC student between 12 and 19 passionate about making a positive impact on health in your community? Do you have an awesome idea for a project but need resources to bring it to life? The Youth Action Grants (YAG) are here to help you make it happen! Created by McCreary’s Youth Advisory & Action Council, these grants empower young people like you to improve health and wellbeing.

What are Youth Action Grants? YAGs give you funding to turn your ideas for health improvement projects into a reality. Whether you want to address issues in your school or broader community – if your project tackles challenges identified in the BC Adolescent Health Survey, you could get the support you need!

Who’s Eligible? To be eligible for a YAG, you must:

  • Be between 12 and 19 years old.
  • Attend a school in a district that participated in the latest BC Adolescent Health Survey.
  • Have a project idea that directly addresses one or more key findings from the survey [Link to survey results]
  • Be the leader of your project, but have the support of an adult (teacher, counselor, mentor, etc.).

Ready to Apply? Here’s How:

  1. Brainstorm and Plan: Get together with friends or classmates and start dreaming up your project. Don’t forget to check out those survey results!
  2. Fill Out the Application: Get the application form in English or French and tell the YAG team all about your amazing idea.
  3. Submit and Wait: The YAG team will review your application and let you know if you’ve been successful within about a month.

Need Some Help? Don’t stress if you have questions or need support with your application! The YAG team is ready to help. Email them at [email address removed] or call 604-291-1996.

Your Chance to Shine! The Youth Action Grants aren’t just about money; they’re about giving young people in BC the power to be leaders. Imagine bringing your project to life and seeing the positive change it creates!

What will YOU do? Apply now. Let’s get to work!
