If you are looking to take advantage of the tax credit, consider using Total Renovations (in Halifax, NS). I recommend them as they are A+ rated with the BBB (probably the best measure of reliability) and they did a spiffing job for me. They specialize in roofs, gutters, siding, windows, and doors, but also do custom built kitchens and bathrooms. All of these are deductible with the new tax credit, so tuck in.

1. In October 2009, I had a sumpump installed in my basement to take away the water that
was coming up from under the foundation. The cost for pump and installation was $1250.00
I also have to replace the water pipe from my house out to the city line because there is
lead in the water pipes.Do either of these items qualify for tax rebates or assistance?

2. There is lead in the water pipes (advised by the City of Guelph in June, 2009 - and I have to
have the pipe running from city line into my house (approx. 15 feet) replaced.

ACTUALLY, A QUESTION: WE'RE GETTING READY TO INTEGRATE INTO CITY SEWER SYSTEM (BRAMPTON, ON) AND WILL HAVE TO INVEST IN THAT PART THAT GOES FROM STREET FRONT TO THE SEPTIC TANK OR HOME. ARE THERE TAX CREDITS OR CASH REBATES FOR THESE COSTS? THANKS. IVAN
