Ontario Home Energy Audit Program

Rebate Amount: Up to $150

Description: The Ontario government will pay for 50% of the cost of a home energy audit (the average cost of a home energy audit is $300). Anyone who lives in Ontario and owns a single family home is eligible.

Steps to Get This Rebate:

  1. Get a licensed home energy advisor to do an energy audit on your home. Licensed energy advisors can be found here
  2. The energy advisor will contact the federal ecoEnergy program and the federal government will notify the provincial Home Energy Audit Program (yes, it's complicated - we're talking about the government here!)
  3. The provincial Home Energy Audit Program will issue a $150 rebate cheque.

When the Rebate Ends:

It's a 4-year program, so probably sometime in 2011.
