Ontario Energy Efficiency Assistance Program for Houses

Province/Territory: Ontario (select communities)

Rebate Amount: The value of an energy audit and energy efficient improvements (such as the installation of programmable thermostats, etc.)

Description: Get a free energy audit and free energy efficiency improvements to your home (for low-income, electrically-heated households only).

Energy efficiency improvements may include:

  • Replacing incandescent bulbs with compact fluorescent bulbs
  • Replacing or upgrading lighting fixtures
  • Installing low-flow showerheads
  • Providing indoor clotheslines
  • Using water heater blankets and hot water pipe insulation
  • Installing programmable thermostats
  • And more extensive improvements
This program is being offered on a pilot scale in the following Ontario communities:
Ottawa & area
Toronto, Peel and York Regions
Hamilton/Niagara Region
Waterloo Region, Guelph, Grey-Bruce, Centre Wellington counties
Kingston, Brockville, Lanark, Leeds and Grenville counties
Peterborough, Northumberland, Haliburton, City of Kawartha Lakes
Thunder Bay

Steps to Get This Rebate:

  1. In the Ottawa area, contact EnviroCentre at 613-580-2582
  2. Everywhere else in Ontario, contact Green Communities Canada at 888-661-0000.

When the Rebate Ends:

Ended on December 31st, 2007. Might be renewed in Spring 2008.

    my parents are in the process of taking out all the carpeting in thair home and restoring the existing hardwood underneith. Are there any rebates for this such reno??
