Efficiency PEI Home Energy Low-income Program (HELP)

Efficiency PEI Home Energy-Low-income-Program-

The Home Energy Low-income Program (HELP) is a PEI energy efficiency grant program designed to provide energy efficient upgrades and free air-sealing to low-income Islanders who qualify for the grant.

Successful applicants will have a HELP tradesperson complete FREE comprehensive air-sealing (this usually involves caulking, sealing gaskets, weather-stripping) at your home. But that’s not all.

You also get:

  • A programmable thermostat is installed in your home. – this helps you save money, maintain a consistent temperature at different times of the day in your home and also keeps your HVAC system optimized.
  • A low-flow showerhead – these are economical, environmentally beneficial and you have increased options like – a timer, pause function, aeration, steam control etc.
  • A voucher for a free furnace cleaning (up to $80 value),
  • A number of ENERGY STAR® LED light bulbs.

Introducing some of these simple measures has a huge impact on your annual energy savings. The results vary from home to home but are largely dependent on:

  • the current condition of your home
  • the size of your home
  • the type of heating system you have.

A programmable thermostat installation can save homeowners up to $250 per year in heating costs. Air sealing can help homeowners save up to $650 in annual heating costs.
