Steps to Get This Rebate:

1. Have an ecoENERGY Retrofit energy evaluation done. This evaluation must be done by an accredited energy advisor. Find an advisor in your area here.
2. Once you receive the energy evaluation report, look at the rebate guide to see how much money you can get back for the recommended home improvements.
3. Do the home improvements.
4. Get another energy evaluation done, to see how much more energy efficient your house is.
5. The energy advisor will send your final energy evaluation to Natural Resources Canada (the government department that runs the ecoENERGY Retrofit program).
6. Natural Resources Canada will send you a rebate cheque.

Description:
Get a home improvement grant when you make your home more energy efficient. An average grant is $1,500 (and when combined with the federal ecoENERGY Retrofit program, can be even more).
When you enroll in the Renoclimat program, you get:

• A structured analysis of all aspects of your house (insulation, airtightness, efficiency of heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems)
• A personalized report containing detailed recommendations on how to make your home more comfortable to live in, while cutting energy costs
• Advice from energy efficiency experts
• Your home’s EnerGuide rating
• A grant from Hydro-Quebec (depending on how much more energy-efficient your home has become after home improvements)

Steps to Get This Rebate:

1. Schedule an energy evaluation of your house by calling Quebec’s Renoclimat call centre at 1-866-266-0008.
2. Have the energy evaluation of your house done by an energy efficiency advisor.
3. Do the necessary home improvements to increase the EnerGuide rating of your house.
4. Have a second (post-renovation) energy evaluation done by an energy efficiency advisor.
5. The energy efficiency advisor will submit the evaluation report to Hydro-Quebec
6. You’ll receive a grant cheque from Hydro-Quebec

Rebate Amount: $1,500 or $2,000 per home

Description:
Get a $1,500 or $2,000 rebate when you build a new high-efficiency Novoclimat-certified home heated primarily with electricity.

Under this program, site-built homes are eligible for a $2,000 grant, and prefabricated (modular or panelized) homes are eligible for a $1,500 grant.

Novoclimat homes are constructed by builders who are specially trained and accredited by Quebec’s Agence de l’efficacite energetique. The homes meet higher standards for insulation, weather sealing and ventilation, with energy performance that is at least 25% better than that of a traditional home.

Steps to Get This Rebate:

1. Find a Novoclimat builder here (site is in French only)
2. Once your house is built, your builder will have the house inspected and authorized by the Agence de l’efficacite energetique (AEE).
3. When you take possession of the house, your builder will give you the Novoclimat certificate, and a rebate application form to fill out.
4. Fill out the rebate form and return it to Hydro-Quebec.

Rebate Amount: Value of free coupons from Hydro-Quebec’s retail partners

Description:
Get money-saving coupons for energy-saving products when you complete an online energy efficiency questionnaire.

Customers of Hydro-Quebec can complete an on-line Energy Wise “home diagnostic” energy use questionnaire and get coupons for a wide range of energy-saving equipment and materials, including:

• programmable thermostats
• energy efficient light bulbs
• low-flow showerheads
• swimming pool accessories.

The coupons change monthly and can be redeemed in participating stores or, in some cases, by mail.

To qualify to complete the questionnaire, you must have been a Hydro-Quebec customer for at least 12 months.

Steps to Get This Rebate:

1. Login to your Hydro-Quebec “Personal Page” here, or register a Personal Page here (bottom of page).
2. Complete the Energy Wise Home Diagnostic questionnaire that’s advertised on your Personal Page

Description:
Get free, in-home advice from an energy-efficiency expert, along with installation of free energy-saving products. This program is only for low-income households.

Energy-saving products include weatherstripping, a draft excluder, a flap for the dryer outlet and a hot water saver, as well as minor caulking.

The Econologis program is made available locally by the Association cooperative d’economie familiale (ACEF) de l’Outaouais, whose purpose is to help family budgets.

Rebate Amount: Value of free heat reflector panels

Description:
Get free heat reflector panels if you’re a customer of Gazifere.

Heat reflector panels save energy when radiators are situated against outside walls. The panels reflect 90% of the heat from the radiators back into the room.

The reduction in heat loss makes it possible to reduce boiler temperature by about 5.5 C, while maintaining the same comfort level.
