Steps to Get This Rebate:

1. Have an ecoENERGY Retrofit energy evaluation done. This evaluation must be done by an accredited energy advisor. Find an advisor in your area here.
2. Once you receive the energy evaluation report, look at the rebate guide to see how much money you can get back for the recommended home improvements.
3. Do the home improvements.
4. Get another energy evaluation done, to see how much more energy efficient your house is.
5. The energy advisor will send your final energy evaluation to Natural Resources Canada (the government department that runs the ecoENERGY Retrofit program).
6. Natural Resources Canada will send you a rebate cheque.

Description:
Get up to $125 in government rebates when you purchase (1) an ENERGY STAR qualified clothes washer, and (2) an ENERGY STAR qualified chest freezer of less than 16 cu. ft. in size .

• Appliance must be purchased for use at primary residence only
• One purchase of each appliance per household

Rebate Amount: $800 to $1,000 per home

Description:
Get the costs associated with the evaluation, testing and inspection of your new high-efficiency R-2000 homes paid for by Manitoba Hydro.

Upon enrollment in the program, homeowners have the option of consulting a Licensed Design Evaluator on home design details or leaving the design to the licensed R-2000 builder.

Following construction of the home, a licensed R-2000 Inspector and Air Tightness Tester will perform a final inspection. Once any defects are corrected by the builder, the home is officially certified as an R-2000 home.

Steps to Get This Rebate:

1. After selecting an R-2000 builder (a list is available here), ask the builder to submit the home’s proposed plans and specifications along with an enrollment application to the Manitoba R-2000 Home program.

Rebate Amount: Reduced-interest loan up to $7,500 per home

Description:
Get a reduced-interest loan when you implement any of the following energy saving renovations:

• adding insulation
• installing ventilation
• sealing air leaks
• replacing windows and doors
• upgrading lighting, electrical service and wiring
• upgrading or replacing heating systems.

Renovations must meet detailed specifications.

The maximum loan is $7,500 and the minimum is $500. The annual fixed interest rate is 6.5%. No down payment is required. The maximum term is 60 months. Monthly installments are included on the customer’s energy bill.

Description:
Get up to a $1,000 certificate towards the purchase of an ENERGY STAR qualified front-loading washing machine, or a $600 electricity bill rebate, to customers who build a new single-family home heated with electricity or natural gas that incorporates certain energy efficient components.

Builders, who must have completed specific Manitoba Hydro training, must install all features specified in the program’s Technical Standard. New homes built under this program receive an EnerGuide for Houses energy efficiency rating and Power Smart certification.

Steps to Get This Rebate:

1. Talk to your builder and fill out the program application form together. You will also need to submit your house plans (hard copy or email) to Manitoba Hydro.
2. Build your home to the Silver or Gold standard.
3. Once construction is complete, your builder will arrange for a final evaluation by Manitoba Hydro.

Rebate Amount: Up to 100% of the cost of insulation materials (expected average of more than $500 per home)

Description:
Manitoba Hydro will cover up to 100% of the cost of insulation materials placed in attics, walls and crawl spaces in customers? homes in which electricity or natural gas has been used as the principal heating source for at least one year.

Detached and semi-detached homes, and mobile homes on permanent foundations and condominiums are eligible for this rebate. Summer homes or cottages, unoccupied homes and homes under construction are not eligible.

Insulation work must meet specified minimum requirements and be approved by Manitoba Hydro before it is undertaken. The rebate amount provided by Manitoba Hydro is calculated based on the type and quantity of insulation materials installed.

Steps to Get This Rebate:

1. The rebate application must be completed by the contractor hired to undertake the work, or by the building supply retailer if no contractor is hired.
2. The contractor or retailer will submit the form and original receipts to Manitoba Hydro, and inform you when the application is approved.
3. The work must be completed within six months of the date of the application.
4. The rebate is issued as a credit to a customer account or as a cheque.

Description:
Get a $245 government rebate when you replace your old furnace or boiler with a new ENERGY STAR qualified furnace or boiler.

New furnaces or boilers must have been purchased and installed after November 30, 2005.

Steps to Get This Rebate:

1. Replace your old furnace with a new ENERGY STAR qualified high-efficiency furnace.
2. Get the Power Smart Furnace Replacement Program from your installer and ask them to help you fill it out. You can also get the form here.

Description:
Get a reduced-interest loan to buy a geothermal heat pump system. Both new installations and heating system replacements are eligible, regardless of previous fuel source.

The maximum loan is $20 000. The annual fixed interest rate is 4.9%. The maximum term is 15 years, and additional payments can be made at any time after the first six months with no interest penalty. Monthly installments are included on the customer’s energy bill.

Description:
Get a 10% discount on your Genworth mortgage insurance when you buy a home that has a EnerGuide rating of 77+ or R2000, or refinance your home to make energy-saving renovations. You?ll also get access to an online discount program for commonly purchased items.

Steps to Get This Rebate:

1. Either buy a home that is EnerGuide Rated 77+ or R2000, OR renovate your existing home to increase its EnerGuide rating by at least 5 points (to a minimum rating of 40).
2. Supply documentation certifying that your home meets the standards above:
   • If you’re purchasing a home, provide a copy of the first page of your EnerGuide evaluation report or R-2000 certification
   • If you’re renovating your home, provide a copy of both the pre-improvement and the post-improvement Energuide for houses evaluation report. (Find an energy advisor to do the evaluation here.)

Rebate Amount: Not a rebate, a $24,000 forgivable loan

Description:
Get a $24,000 forgivable loan toward the construction of a rental unit in your home. Once completed, the unit must be rented out to a low-income senior, or person with a disability.

The purpose of the Residential Rehabilitation Assistance Program (RRAP) for Secondary/Garden Suites is to create affordable housing for low-income seniors and adults with a disability.

Some important things to keep in mind about the RRAP:

• Work carried out before the RRAP loan is approved is not eligible.
• You must rent the unit out to a low-income senior, or person with a disability, for 15 years
• There’s a cap on the amount of rent you can charge the tenant (for example in Ottawa the cap for a one-bedroom unit rented to one person is $815 per month)
